About Ian

I'm Imre Csige, Ian to most people. I'm a full-stack developer from Hungary who has been building for the web since 2009, and for over 5 years now a development team lead in enterprise software.

These days I lead a team of developers at a multinational company, where we build large-scale React applications for the law and regulatory domain. I run the team and plan its work, design the architecture, write the specifications and the development guidelines, review the code and talk to the people who need the software. I still ship features myself too, because I like to lead from inside the codebase.

Before React took over my working days I built most of what a web stack is made of: PHP backends and APIs, Vue and Nuxt frontends, real-time services, hybrid mobile and desktop apps, serverless stacks on AWS and the Linux servers under all of it. So I can take a feature from the database to the last pixel, and I know what the people on either side of me are dealing with.

I also build my own tools. I'm the creator of Stati, the TypeScript-first static site generator this garden runs on, and of Speci, an AI workflow orchestrator that takes a feature from a written spec to shipped code in one autonomous loop, quality gates included.

In my free time I make games, music and pixel art, self-host more than I should, and write about all of it here.
